Polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) or poly(methyl 2-methylpropenoate) is the synthetic polymer of methyl methacrylate. This thermoplastic is a transparent plastic and is sold by the tradenames Plexiglas, Perspex. Engraves and cuts very well to 20mm thick. Acrylic is also used to produce tamperproof labels which are labels that cannot be removed completely and so can show evidence of tamper. They are also used as normal highly adhesive labels.
