Brass, one of the least friendly laser materials, it can be marked but due to it's softness it is more difficult to mark than stainless steel. We prefer to use the YAG laser, or CO2 laser in combination with a special chemical, or the best is still traditional chemical etching. The first picture shows brass laser marked with the aid of a brush on coating. The second picture shows brass effect aluminium with a black marking. Here a brass effect surface finish has been developed which when marked with the CO2 laser gives a highly visible and contrasting black mark. Excellent for trophy and award plaques.
